I just woke from a silly dream and thought I'd share it with you guys.

I'm aware it's been a while since I last blogged; especially in this platform, and in this way; but I suppose reading through Xiaxue's archives somehow prompted me to start blogging again.

ANYWAY the dream:

It was the usual kind of dream where you start off watching a scene like in a movie, and then when I inadvertently start reacting or relating to one of the characters, I became that character, jumping right in to immediately answer my own question "Why, (if I'm that character,) I oughtta..."

That character I turned into may be anyone; a young boy, an old Indian woman, an unsure yuppie. I guess I should start describing the 'first' scene, as my dreams usually jump around from one scene to another, varying in genres and pure randomness. There may have been far more many scenes before it, but it was the earliest my right-brain memory could remember, as the rest have already faded away while I rambled in this post XD

I saw a young, newlywed couple who just moved in to a new neighborhood. A Christmas party targeted for children has just ended in their apartment, and the last child has just left, a boy tightly hugged the woman whom he loved so much. I assumed it's because he's her nephew or something, as I related it to my own relationship with my nephew Mikko. I could see myself doing the kiddie stuff never through my own kids, but through others' whom I'd love no less.

And immediately I was that woman. A dark-haired caucasian with a touch of Latina, secretly and painfully conscious of her own huge hips and thighs and wishing she could lose more weight, as she was taking down the holiday decorations off their windows. The new husband stopped her before she could get any further, telling her to let them savor the seasonal spirit for one more day. She closed the windows, still strewn with childish and cheap tinsel and plastic bells and mistletoes, and leaned back into his arms, staring out. She thought, "Well, he (the boy) would like that, too."

In the morning the man left for work on his motorcycle, similarly with dark Grecian-like features, as his wife ran out of the house asking in vain if she could ride with him to buy something, but the load roar of his motorcycle drowned out her uncertain, obviously not-loud-enough shy request, leaving her behind. The next scene showed her riding in a strange make shift shuttle system that resembled a jeep, which showed her coming back home with a jar of figs, annoyed with her own long, thick and straight black hair for flying about during the open-air ride. She was riding with her neighbors, all of which were of different races and backgrounds.

She went home to be greeted by a young plump redhead with frizzy hair and glasses who seemed to be wearing a costume straight out of Mobile Suit Gundam. That's when I realized the young woman was wearing something similar, although hers was a black short skirted number while the chubby redhead's was green.

I didn't find it strange at all to find Leonard Hofstadter sitting in one of the tables of what seemed to be a wedding reception banquet hall made out of an HDB's void deck. The redhead seemed to be trying to get Leonard to get attracted to the darkhaired woman, but for some reason it was Sheldon who looked more intrigued than anybody. He kept asking what's going on, and the darkhaired one (me?) kept trying to get him to stay still and wait for the redhead's announcement. She seemed to be worried he'd view the situation differently from what the redhead intended.

And sure enough, Sheldon was soon at the podium announcing to all the guests that he, like everyone else in that party, was unsure what in the world was going on, specifically whose marriage it was they were supposed to be celebrating, as apparently they attended no wedding, let alone the redhead's,who invited them all there. He went on to say that he has found the whole affair to be nothing more than another product of an otaku's delusion, as the whole party apparently was a celebration of her fanfic's wedding between Char Aznable and Natalie Bianchi. He suggested everyone to stand up and leave this 'utter hogwash that's not even canon'.

As the dark haired lady (who finally realized what their costumes were for, as they looked similar to Char's uniform) looked around as the guests stood up to leave, with the redhead pleading them to stay. Personally I found the redhead to be indeed a bit deceptive, but I suppose her dark haired friend is loyal, for the next thing I knew I found myself going up to Sheldon to interrupt his speech:

"Sheldon," she started with a very firm voice, like I remembered how I talked to my brother when he was trying to test our limits, "please. sit. down."

Sheldon tried to say more to prove himself right but her voice raised in volume a bit higher, but the pitch lower: "Now."

Subdued, Sheldon left the podium, but it was already too late. She addressed the leaving guests, "Why are you all leaving? The party is about to start!"

They answered "The married couple wasn't even real!"

At that she(I?) banged the podium with open palms and called out, "SO WERE ROMEO AND JULIET! And yet their love, and their tragedy, were celebrated for hundreds of years by EVERYONE. Including each and every one of YOU. Why can't we celebrate THEIR love now?"

At that point I found myself awake. I was frustrated for not being able able to know if she has succesfully convinced them, but I resigned myself to thinking it was an arguable point.

THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN DO FOR TARA SANTELICES. PLEASE FORWARD TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW.

Word spreads around fast and almost everyone has already heard about what happened to our dear friend, Tara Santelices (Assumption Antipolo’s Batch 2003 and Ateneo de Manila University’s Class of 2007, AB Political Science).

On the eve of her 23rd birthday, Tara was shot in the head during a hold-up while riding a jeepney along Imelda Avenue, Cainta, Rizal. Joee Mejias, who was with her at that time, rushed her to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in Marikina City. The parents of Tara and Joee arrived at the hospital shortly thereafter. When morning came, Tara’s parents finally decided to transfer her to the Medical City, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City. Since 8:00am of August 6, Tara has been in the ICU fighting for her dear life. Her parents have decided not to push through with the operation.

Although it might seem that there is nothing else that we can do but wait for Tara to wake up from this horrific nightmare, we, the friends of Tara, have decided to raise funds for Tara’s hospital bills. This is the least we can do to ease the unbearable pain her family is going through. We have been given the go-signal from Tara’s dad, Tito Larry, and here are the details:

Let's start the checklist from head to toe...

To I can get my blonde wig back I'm just waiting for gf Joy to schedule a meet-up ^^ I'll combine this with another wig borrowed from Batella. I bought a big dark barette, and a hair mascara to help my brows match teh blondenezz ;)

As for the glasses, I thought about painting my glass frames black, but decided against risking it since dad got me this gold plated baby from Hong Kong.

As for the top, I ganked a polo shirt from my lil sis. I think it used to be her uniform back in college or something. I bought a yard of tiny ruffles (no, not ROFLs) and stitched them down the front of the shirt. Then the long sleeves are cut off to be replaced with bigger ROF- er, ruffles made from a half-yard of white tetoron.

I found the black velvet sleeveless knee-length dress at an ukay shop across Robinson's Galleria ^^ the hemline was raised a LOT shorter, then added the bigger RO-... ruffles! to match the new sleeves. The neckline was also scooped lower.

I found long black fake nails also at the palengke! I even got a discount from the Taiwanese seller by conversing in Fookien XD I found glass bangles and bought 1 yellow, 2 whites, with a ring to match.

Finally I dug up my thigh-high black socks (which I've used in past cosplays) and found the white high-heeled pumps in Greenhills ^^

This was taken in that New Worlds Alliance event in Rockwell. This is the day I met Beany and Shin because they just invited me through Matt to join them in their cosplay photoshoot.

Beany lent me the top, coat and scarf. Her white wig is luuuurve! If I could borrow it I'd probably have the crazy idea to cosplay the White Witch of Forbidden Kingdom hehehe!

Ooooh! I got it spelled wrong after all XD I tried Google again now that I am armed with correctly-spelled data:

Anyway, yeah. I got this wire fitted on my lower teeth, while my upper braces got their usual tightening. There's a dull pain now, which is worse than usual on my lower gums T_T so I'm afraid I'd have to give up going to Toy Con altogether this year. I'll just have to enjoy it through your stories, pictures and videos ^^ so make plenty! ;D And have fun!

What the heck is that??

My ortho just told me she's gonna have me fitted for MEOW, to be installed by her partner Doc Rico this Saturday afternoon. I asked why he had to do it when she's the one I paid for the braces. She answered that her specialty is to distalize while his is MEOW. She tried to explain that it's a kind of wire that would help my overcrowded lower teeth move away from each other. She even showed me this weird wire that's shaped geometrically into strange squarish loops:

Ok, that's not as exact as it looked but it's the best I could do :p I tried Googling for more info about it but I couldn't find anything. I even asked a dear friend (hi Ron) and he wasn't sure himself, guessing it's a brand or something.

*sigh* so that means no Toy Con for me this year :( because I'm going to have to be in Laguna to get this MEOW thing, whatever that is.

Laguna, Braces, and Sculpey!

I went home to Laguna again after three weeks to get my braces adjusted. I met up with my Siobeh and we took a bus together. I owe her a movie, probably Indiana Jones.

The adjustment was the most painful I've ever had! Suffice it to say it drove me nuts T_T The ligatures are pure wires this time, so no colorful elastics :p

Sunday was fun though! I took part in the Claylettes workshop :3 you can read more here! Karla was simply wonderful and the info she shared was very practical and useful ^^

Thanks to all my friends and family who made my day giving me their birthday greetings!

Last week Derrick and I decided to celebrate our birthdays (being born eleven days apart) by watching Iron Man followed by a wonderful pasta dinner and yummy slices of the most sinful cake in Banapple.

Last Friday Sir Edwin allowed me to celebrate in Antarctica. Kel was absent(regrettable, since he's the one who introduced me to this circle of friends, and I was looking forward to the famous Kelbonara), and it was too late to cook :( so I advanced some money to be able to buy at least a Barrel from KFC. The Antarcticans graciously cooked enough rice (and believe me, it was a lot!) while Eric bought a tray of sushi and Erving bought some sodas ^^ Another notable gift would be the all the glompage I got that night XD And I enjoyed hearing Hao sing a Carpenter song with Eric, and sometimes Tonet, playing along on the keyboards.

Looking back, I am very thankful to have undeniable proof that God is always there for me. I've been to hell and back, but God made sure I'd come of it ok, stronger and wiser. For a while until the start of 2007 was a very dark time, but I am lucky to be blessed by the good people and events that followed since :)

Thanks to all of you, my family and friends, you have made my new life a much better and happier one.

Laguna Weekend

I left for Laguna Saturday morning, hopping onto a Batangas-Lipa bus to transfer to a jeep when I reach Jollibee Sto. Tomas. I could easily walk home from a jeep stop but my family insisted they pick me up :) Kuya Epy came along pretty quick and I rode in his motorcycle. I rested and ate a bit before going to the dentist to get my braces adjusted.

My usual dentist was unavailable so there was a substitute. If my ligature didn't snap I would have waited another week :p He resolved the poking wire at my upper right molar band, saying it grew longer midway because my upper teeth have moved. Unfortunately the poking wire in my lower molar band is still puncturing my poor tongue :( Now I'll have to wait another three weeks before I could have it seen to T_T my only consolation was the gold colored ligatures look pretty, and the adjustment doesn't hurt at all (I hope it's due less to the sub's incompetence and more to my growing theshold of pain).

I spent the rest of the weekend watching DVDs, playing DS(accidentally deleted Professor Layton sorry T_T) and watching the three babies dance to Sesame Street. I saw Achi's Noble Pink DS bought in Singapore, and I had my nails done by my lil sis. My toe nails are now Hello Kitty pink lol! Dad and mom also did some reflexology they learned at the seminars they were given ^^

Ok, enough randomness hehe :) I'm now back in Manila and will be staying here until I go back for braces adjustment on May 17.

Miker told me last night that he and Ranulf were going to Sanctuarium for Mina's wake. This took me by surprise, and I decided to go with them. We went there and wrote in the guestbook relaying messages from more friends in different communities who wished to extend their condolences. She died of breast cancer. I think she was 42 (I'll try to confirm this). You may visit Sanctuarium, third floor. We easily found it because there was a huge arrangement of flowers with the indicating that it's from the Animation Council of the Philippines.

You have touched so many lives Mina :) thank you for bringing together all the creative people in every community.

I got my braceth latht Thaturday and it hath been driving me nutth everthince. It hath altho been quite an educational ordeal for me during thith learning curve.

For one thing, I learned that my tongue could be a very strong er, muscle? organ? whatever. It jutht means I'll probably try tying a cherry thtem into a knot with my mouth XD tho far I only know it'th my only meanth to cut thoft thoggy noodleth to eat >< And thpeaking of noodleth, long noodleth meanth trouble.

I altho learned that ortho wax ith luuurve! The inthide of my left molar band ith poking into my tongue tho much it'th all sore now :( I only got relief when I finally decided to try the wax which I got with my weird looking toothbrush with umm, thomething that lookth like a baby bottle cleaner, only much smaller.

I thoon after bought mouthwash and Pyodontyl too, along with a dental adhesive paste. I thtill couldn't bring mythelf to put 'deprotenized calf blood extract' whatever inthide my mouth though.

And timeth like these I'm glad I'm not a call center agent.

Anyway I'm glad that I am able to buy the premium item pirate costume for my Adelina!

I'd like the ATP card itself but let's just say it's too... elusive for me at the moment :p For now I'm glad to get the costume! I only wish I can also get the hat, but if it's too difficult for me to get I'll just make an eyepatch for my cosplay. Anyway, look how much I leveled up since I got my Adelina that's my screenshot from my laptop, with the ATP wallpaper peeking underneath.

I've been levelling up my La Coronas (my Brunie 'Joy', scout 'Beany' and male wiz 'Abelard') with Shin boosting me(until he has to go sleep ^^) when Erv offered to help me get the Adelina RNPC card :D Using the Brunie I got from Shin I went with his party Helina et al to Porto Bello and completed the quest (I find it yurilicious how I wouldn't have been able to get the card without Brunie)! I quickly replaced the male wiz with Adelina and proceeded with her story. I am pleased to find her story to be of vengeance. I took screenshot of her convo with Capt Ricardo, and improvised a few of my own...

Capt. Ricardo: "I told you I do not know where Bardi is! I only know he's here in Coimbra..."

Adelina: "Aye, me bonny lass, ye can put yer knife down now."

I got in to the Victorian Valentine thanks to Ranulf ^^ I'm supposed to perform a sword demo with him but I never got enough practice so I had to beg him to perform it with someone else.

Thankfully Sam got off early from his fashion show and joined us! He performed the sword demo with Ranulf and someone else(will update when I learn who).

I got the first two from Sam :) I'll upload more as I find them ^^ I cosplayed as Adelina Esperanza from Granado Espada.

I got there thanks to Joy (cosplaying as Brunie Etienne) and Dandan (cosplaying as Jean-Pierre) picking me up from Miker's place.

I was editing the movie there with Miker but sadly we didn't finish the revisions in time :( and Miker didn't join us to visit his family.

Victorian Valentine was a blast! I saw the most gorgeous people in the most gorgeous costumes I'm still squeeing the morning after :3

And us GE cosplayers had a wonderful time in the GE E-games booth, which we dubbed The Barracks.

And yes! We had yuri raep tiemz!!! Mon cheri Brunie and Bernelli harassed my dear Nikki it was delightful XD I'm so glad she agreed to join our GE cosplay photoshoot as Catherine the Summoner with our beautiful GE ladies Bea and Presea(in her delicious Elementalist outfit).

And I won as Baroness of the Ball while Shin won as Baron (I just love how all the men looked so dashing!). We duelled over the prizes after, and I am enjoying my spoils: my GE t-shirt hehehe!

I can't wait to add more pictures! :3

I got my Blue Radon W310 from my friend Ranulf, who is planning to go back to his first love and buy a Macbook XD

Here's to more rakets ^_^ squee! I am very thankful how I'm slowly getting the items in my wishlist, by my own professional perseverance, no less, and of course, God's grace.

Ranulf bought this laptop less than six months ago, so when he offered it as payment for the gigs he's been sending my way, I thought it's a good deal :)

I'm still feeling my way around :D Since it's my first time owning a laptop and all. I'll be installing Photoshop so I can work wherever I am: be it in my dorm, in San Pablo, or in Antarctica XD Getting a laptop has been justified by my (reluctantly) nomadic nature.

It's been getting more and more difficult having to dig up PSD files and whatnot from different desktops in my different locations. I've been on the move ever since I started college. I've been so busy and hardly stay in one place long enough that I still couldn't finish any games I've installed in my desktop (which I also happily bought less than a year ago ^^).

Cosplay Contest Mechanics

1) The Cosplay contest would be an individual cosplay contest within the UGG X3m Xpo event on September 22, 2007 at the Market! Market! Activity Area. Each cosplayer will be given 20-30 seconds to go on stage and perform some signature moves of the character (Please see Criteria for Judging).

2) All characters being portrayed by all participating cosplayers should originally (meaning their first appearance) only come from the following:

- Arcade Games
- PC games
- Console Games

3) Timezone and Matahari Studios (Philippines) employees are disqualified from entering this contest.

4) Cosplayers are required to register on the event itself and be in the staging area 30 minutes before the cosplay ramp. Itinerary for cosplay activities are as follows:

2:00pm - Start of Cosplay Registration
3:30pm – End of Cosplay Registration
4:30pm – Roll Call of Cosplayers
5:00pm – Start of Cosplay Ramp
5:45pm – Estimated End of Cosplay Ramp

5) The following information will be included in the pre-registration form:

- Real Name* (first name and last name)
- Gender
- Age
- Email Address/contact information*
- Characters to cosplay (please include the arcade/PC/console game where the characters being cosplayed belongs to)

*Not giving the real name or email/contact information is grounds for disqualification.

6) Cosplay contestants should be 16 years of age or older. They must be prepared to be in costume for hours.

7) Costumes must not be gory, messy or obstructive to the flow of people in the event. Real weapons and exploding, breaking or harmful props are not allowed.

8) The judges’ decision is final and cannot be appealed.

9) Cosplay prizes are as follows:

- First Prize - Php 5,000.00
- Second Prize - Php 3,000.00
- Third Prize - Php 2,000.00

10) Criteria for Judging are as follows:

• Attire (Accuracy, Craftsmanship, Creativity)- 40%
• Stage Performance (Characterization, Stage Presence, Projection)- 50%

I first met him way back in 2001 at Brash Young Cinema when I first attended a Via Astris meeting. I saw him very rarely since, for we only bump into each other in New Worlds conventions and in gatherings at the Yale House. However, each and every time he's always so warm towards me, which touched my heart. My coworkers Hector, Miker and Ranulf told me that he had a stroke so I went with them to Medical City a few hours ago, where I saw him alive but unconscious. By midnight Rej informed me that he's taken off the respirator. We will all miss him.

I met new friends Yue and Curry Puff last February 24 at the Manga Kissa!

Yue and Curry Puff are members of Kalye Pinky, which I'll be joining myself pretty soon with my own Asuka Pinky Street doll(thanks to Dom who gave it to me)! She sorta looks like this:

As for Manga Kissa, we paid P200/hr for free access to all mangas and other Japanese language reading materials within. I got off my shift ended at 10pm last night and went to Mayric's for my coworker Alexis' gig for his band Maniac Kiss. They played an extra two sets because we came in after their official set. Aww! Pinoy Rock rules! After that we went out for drinks with his equally rockin' wife, who went to see their show as well. I got home at 7am.

So what would get me out of bed after that?

Free food, free gaming and good friends :) That's what.

Joy texted me asking if I'm on my way to B-Connected for E-Games' beta testing of Granado Espada. I replied that I never got an email so I was never sure if I got in as one of the beta testers. She assured me that I did, and that a lot of my fellow Filcosplay members are there(of which some of them decided to make a fan club of me. Sweet!). So off I went!

Now excuse me while I go play some more free Granado Espada :D So far it delightfully reminds me of Guild Wars, except the setting is kinda New World, so everyone's wearing lace and frills and the characters are ownright gorgeous ;) I'm with the Teutonic Knights guild, by the way.

And they want me to cosplay her... Pretty! And green! I love green ^_^ heh

Ack! I wish I could blog more often >_< I've missed so many events! And dammit my blogroll isn't working again! If anone here know a better blogrolling service I'd gladly sign up and switch :)

So basically, I'm busy with work. We'll be practicing when(if? haha) we get slow days again. And I look forward t it. I enjoy practicing ^_^ I hope I could make enough to start updating my online gallery again. I apologise for not being able to get online as much as I want but I really have a few things to chase ;)

Like right now I have to go around Makati to resarch and prepare for my Nachorifico! franchise. I hope to open it by February 15. I hope I could find someplace affordable to live where I can keep a 6-cubic feet refrigerator! Ack! Again, if you guys have answers, let me know. Will give you guys more updates here about my newest venture.

Also, I've been to another photoshoot, this time with Edlin Roguel and his friends from a pinoy photographers' group. I hope I could upload some pics soon. It was fun, I get to pose and play around with a katana. And Markou's pretty cool as a co-model(erm is that the right term? hahaha). If you know people who needs to hire models gimme a heads up.

As for artworks I owe a lot of art trades to a lot of people >_< I wish I could start working on them. And strips too! I'll upload more Pilya strips as soon as I finish 'em. I also received more Pilya fanarts and I will update my sidebar with it, complete with a feature on the fan artist :D Watch out for Hazel Manzano! She'll be my featured fan artist this month.

Also, my weekends were devoted into suiting up as a Yellow Ranger for the Power Rangers SPD Meet and Greet last January. It was hot and stuffy inside that suit but the cute happy kids made me feel good to keep in character every time! Whew, now I know how the Santa Clauses felt when the kids go to them believing they're the real deal.

As for Jac Strips I'll be introducing the Pilya strips there in Smashphone this month too. They'll be publishing the strips beyond mobile. I'll post more info next time.

Pilya Characters

I've been running my webcomic Pilya for so long that I haven't realized until now that I haven't gotten around to making a character page! So I resolved to make one just now, and would probably update this same post right here whenever I need to ^_^

Of course, let's start with:

Pilya

I originally created this character(and the Jac Strips spinoff altogether) because I wanted to tell more stories beyond from my first-person point of view, and mindset. So this character is supposed to be my antithesis ;) I wanted to go beyond my usual boundaries in comic writing via this series.

But if pressed to name a person Pilya reminded me the most, I'd say it's Arashi :) they share that same 'take-no-bullshit' sassiness that I've always loved with today's independent women. She knows who she is, and damned is the fool who would try to tell her otherwise. I admire her courage to speak her mind and back up her convictions.

Taray

Taray is Pilya's gal pal. And (as of the story) they have moved in together as roommates. She's more like the same 'Jac' character from Jac Strips before the spinoff, but I like calling her Taray as much as I like calling the other girl Pilya :) I like how it creates just enough distance and freedom for me to take artistic/creative license in my writing. Same reason for letting Pilya take the main spotlight ;)

So, after all that has been said, I guess I'd let this character be me/my representative :) This character is basically for a more dynamic interaction with Pilya, for they are basically created to contrast in most ways.

Ran

If you've read the Pilya series from the start, you'd know that Pilya and Taray are friends who became roomies after the former got evicted out of her flat for being unable to pay the rent due to joblessness. Pilya got herself a job since then working as a stripper, but by then didn't mind the dorm life. Taray got Pilya to work as an aerobic(-'stripping') instructor later on in Ran's gym/dojo, where Taray has been working as a wushu sensei. Ran, besides owning the gym/dojo, also teaches Kenjutsu.

I try my best to ask people for their permission to let me use their likenesses in my comics :) In this case Ranulf agreed to appear in the Pilya webcomic as Da Boss, for at the time he truly was my boss when I was working for his company Slycesoft Inc. So yeah, he does own a company, but it's not really a gym or a dojo... but he did teach me a few things in kenjutsu ^_^

Kel

Don't ask me how Ran is convinced that he needed Kel as the marketing officer of his gym. Kel has since suggested to stick to calling the place Ran's Dojo, because it sounds cooler than always having to say gym-slash-dojo ^_^; And thanks to him the employees are finally getting office net(and LAN games). Yay! Kel also seems to have a few plans to make the gym... ok, ok dojo be more visible to the public eye ;)

Ok, if I could get better photos I'd gladly replace these(hint, hint)! I wouldn't mind updating this entry from time to time anyway :) This character is based on Marcelle, whom I met through Ranulf. He worked as a DJ for Wave, he hosts, and he does magic tricks sure to charm your pants off(ok, not literally).

RF Online N00b

Problem 1:

I tried to play RF Online in Netopia but instead I kept getting this message:

"Patch failure. Please try in short future."

Solution:

Since I was playing in an internet cafe, I told the employees about it and they suggested I try a different machine. It works! Sheesh, I shoulda done this sooner. Gahd I'm such a newb >_< but then, what if that happened to my personal computer??

Problem 2:

WTF?? Now I'm getting this message: "Not a subscribing user. would you like to subsribe?"

Whaddayamean I'm not a subscribing user?? I just bought PhP20 credits and topped up!

Solution:

I met a fellow RF player at the UP AME who told me I should go to the Use Credits page and choose the game I'd use the credits for. Considering I just added those same credits to game it asked me to specify, I never thought of this solution independently. I've yet to give it a try though, because...

Problem 3:

Bad news for people who bought credits worth PhP100, which entitles you to unlimited play for five days.

IF you can play within those days, that is!

But if you kept getting that stupid 'Connection to the server failed' message? For one, two, or even worse; five days? You have just kissed your hundred clams goodbye. For nothing.

There are simply days when the servers are simply down. And there's nothing you can do about it. Ugh.

Solution:

I'm afraid the most we can do is resolve to buy the lowest denominations from now on, because unlimited plays mean nothing to players who only rent the machine they play on. And to everyone when the game itself is inaccessible anyway.

BOTTOMLINE:

I honestly want to play this game and seriously level up and all, but all these fuck-ups are just not worth it. I won't even start with how I never get problems like these when I was playing Guild Wars(yes, the game that doesn't need any topping up at all)! I'm very frustrated. But if anyone can help me resolve these stupid mysteries I'd highly appreciate it.

Argh! I want to update more often but I'm doing a lot of things lately, namely preparing for the cosplay I'll be doing at the UP AME this Matsuri Saturday, December 9! Hopefully we get good pics after so I can post them here ^_^ I finished the costume this morning, complete with staff, thanks to my family and friends who helped ^_^

Like I said, Robert Wong started me off with cutting and putting together the skirt and vest armor parts. Jewel helped me find Mannequin Incorporated where I bought a blonde wig at a 20% discount. Dessie Aquino sewed my suit, gloves and stockings. Dad spray painted the gold parts of my staff. Bebe made the belly charms and helped me shop for materials. Mom and Wanwan also gave a lot of useful input and support :D

Times like these I wish I have my own computer ;) I've never tried using customized player models tho. I wonder if anybody here has. Do they work out okay?

I've been playing Counter Strike since college, when my then-boyfiend taught me by showing me how to use the guns and stuff, then proceeding to 0wn my n00b13 @$$. Needless to say I retaliated by 0wnzng him in real life :) Don't worry, he's still alive and we're still friends.

To make the long story short I sucked so bad I never had fun playing the game until just last week when my coworkers taught me to use the right guns. For the first time my gameplay improved like it never has in years! So yeah, I'm addicted. If belatedly.

It all started years ago when we saw this spread of stickers being sold on the street. The cg art is breathtakingly gorgeous I laid claim on it immediately. And have since been asking everyone I know, especially hardcore gamers, if they could tell me what game or anime those stickers were all about. Nobody knew either.

The strip picks up from the previous one, where we reveal that Taray doesn't own a computer. Pilya's suggestion to get one thru office request didn't push through because their boss doesn't think gym instructors(like wushu senseis) need computers.

Ok, I'm drawing my strips again. Kinda. Baby steps ;D I've spent most of the time figuring out how the new layout should be to be able to translate them for different media besides online; namely print and mobile, and in the future maybe even more; but I'll let you know about that as soon as I can ;)

And yes the story is definitely going somewhere now, believe me XD Just watch out for the next few strips!

The strip is about Guild Wars: Factions, which is the expansion to the original Guild Wars. I'd love to try it out because I've been playing GW in Netopia. But they don't have the expansion there. Which means I'd have to buy it myself. That would be very unlikely because I don't really have my own PC.

I apologise for not updating my weekly webcomic like I should >_< I've just been so busy lately and it got to a point that I got really rusty making comic strips. I did this one just to jumpstart myself. Hopefully I get my groove back soon enough ;)

I went crazy with lack of sleep so I came up with a wallpaper XD

Cosplay Progress:

I've finished making the armor. Evaguy_01 helped me get started by making the vest and skirt parts. I finished the rest, painting details on everything and adding red reflectors. I bought the shoes on sale for PhP150. I put the little circle things with rugby/rubber cement.

I would have liked to buy orange reflectors but they're out of stock. Fortunately these worked better than expected. Due to my inexperience tho I stretched them upon application so they kept peeling off. I solved that little problem by applying a bit of glue over the edges. I used LEEHO gold glitter fabric paint, but apparently they're not that visible in photos. So regular glue would have worked just as well.

As for cutting, regular scissors worked just fine because they're just 4mm-thick foam rubber. It's white, so I used the standard white Staedtler eraser to clean it up a bit before I started painting the details with black waterbased latex paint and a cheap oilpainting brush. So it's kinda embarassing when the painting ended up looking pretty sketchy up close.

As for the cloth parts of the costume, I asked around for a seamstress. I first found one in Quezon City who quoted PhP4000 for the costume. When I asked another tailor, this time in San Pablo, she quoted PhP2500. There's another tailor who might charge even lower, but I'm not that impressed with their handiwork. Maybe when the costume isn't so challenging I'd give them a try :)

Anyway, I've always wanted to make these 'girly' posts. I am one of the un-girliest girls you'd ever meet. Therefore, I am hopelessly clueless about stuff that people with double-X chromosomes are naturally gifted with. Usually. I know squat about makeup, I burn everything I've ever tried to cook, and I'm so lousy at haggling sidewalk vendors rob me blind.

Soooo I rely on the internet when I need to know about girly stuff. And the information that was hardest to come by usually pops up in another girl's blog! So I thought I'd give something back to the world (or karma, depends on how you see it) and try to share whatever knowledge I pick up from personal experience thru blogging.

Okay boys, you may go leave a comment now and surf FHM.com or whatever. Because now I'm gonna talk about... waxing.

Okay girls, now that the boys are out of the way, let me tell you that finding the best waxers has been a long and literally painful journey. I started with lotions like Sally Hansen for my legs. I rubbed too hard with the washcloth though which resulted to scarping myself (so I don't know my own strength, okay?).

Shaving is quicker and much less hassle, but the stubbles are just *aaaaaaaaaaaargh!* that in the end I just left my legs alone eversince. Apparently guys don't mind at all. I found that out when I wore miniskirts that I still get the same results. I stopped traffic ;)

Anyway as for waxing, I'd say the best is by Watercolors Salon (I'd thank the girl who blogged about this, but I can't remember her at the moment >_<). Most expensive, but least painful. So for anyone who's interested: Watercolors Salon, 25 Zamboanga St., West Ave., QC 3734232/4101219. They also gave me a nice footspa because they had a promo so I tried it out. Pamper galore. My only complaint is that they don't have any other branches, let alone in Makati.

Runner-up would be Piandre, which is located in Greenbelt 1, Ayala Center. Arashi is the one who told me about this. And I go here when I don't have the time to go so far as Quezon City. They're slightly cheaper, but slightly more painful, and slightly less thorough. I mean, they tend to miss some. And you might get skin irritations.

Another one I tried is this salon in Greenhills. I can't recall the name of the salon, but they have only one waxer, so if you go when that one and only waxer happens to have her dayoff, then tough luck. Cheaper, less painful, but not so thorough. I wouldn't recommend them for a Brazilian, but they're good enough for other waxing services.

The one place I'd never ever go back to is Let's Face It. I don't know if it's because I had the misfortune of being practiced on by a n00b but daaaaang that was painful! I only decided to give them a try because it's the cheapest I've heard of, but let's just say I found out the hard way that the priciness apparently is inversely proportionate to the painlessness. 'Nuff said.

Yes, it's that time of the month again for me, so I need beer.

Ok, to some of you who don't get it, it's like this: I believe beer eases my menstrual condition.

I'm not exactly aware of any scientific explanations behind this, but so far it works for me. It stops cramps, bloatedness, etc and it cuts down my period from a week to three days. As far as I know its effect on me is that it speeds up the process.

I hear the weakest version is Coke or Pepsi, while the strongest version is Cerveza Negra. You girls are welcome to try it yourself ;) Anyway, I'm scheduling for a Brazilian in two weeks.

Typhoon Milenyo

A fellow San Pablo blogger made an amazing photo documentary of the typhoon that just ravaged our area. The announcement was made the day before, calling all schools to call off classes a day in advance due to 'typhoon signal number 2'.

I was impressed that they predicted it a day ahead, compared to my schooldays when they called off classes AFTER we're stranded within the buildings of UST which has already transformed itself into an Atlantis. Again.

Estanislao Merchandise

I decided on the costume after Robert agreed to help me with the armor. He told me to get some materials here. If you would look at one of his websites you'll find out a few helpful facts as a cosplayer. As for Estanislao this is where I could buy rubber sheets. They're light yet sturdy enough not to be droopy, if you choose the right thickness for the job :)

I got two sheets of white 4mm for the Cora's armor, as well as Greco888, which he swears is tons better than Mighty Bond. The people there are very accommodating, just like he said, and helped me choose the right stuff by being efficently informative. I also enjoyed talking to them, switching languages between Filipino, English and Fookien. And the whole time they have this big fat cat they call Britney who prowls the countertop, stepping(pussyfooting?) all over money and receipts as the people go about their business XD

Anyway, here's how I (should have) found the place:

1) go to Aurora Boulevard
2) ride a "Marikina Bayan" jeep= P10
3) get off at bridge (Sumulong Highway cor JP Rizal)
4) ride a "Calumpang" jeep= P7.50
5) watch out for "Chinatrust Bank"

It's amazing seeing him push all kinds of boundaries for a graphic novel, the dance of words and images a perfect mix of pure art and sheer poetry.

And belated happy birthday to my niece who turned 1 year old last September 20 :)
