It is times like these that make me believe God and my angels take care of me :)

I'm supposed to get my first paycheck last week, but let's just say I didn't. I guess accounts was too busy or something. I'll check on it when I get to work.

Anyway, I'm glad for my freelance gigs because I'm surviving on them right now.

Last last Saturday I earned for a 2-hour face painting gig in a kiddie birthday party in Laguna. I had fun with the kids as well as the 'non-kids', even if it seems like they're just being cute because I was with my gorgeous sister(if you wanna get to know her be VERY nice to me and maybe I'll give you her Friendster URL).

Hmmmm, I gotta make a website to upload the pics of our works...

Last Tuesday I got paid more for finishing a comic book cover. This is getting to be a fun project because of the amount of artistic freedom I have. I get to script, pencil, ink, color, letter and layout the entire comic book. I mean, I'm doing EVERYTHING in this project! Which means maximum control. And at the same time the client is very fun to bounce ideas off with :) I just finished another page today. I'm downloading images to use for the third page later.

And yesterday I got paid more for the 3 comic strips I made for Hong Kong. Sure it's mostly educational comic strips for domestic helpers in Hong Kong but even if the premise is not that glamorous I make it a point that I take pride in each and every work I take on. That I followed my standards in doing the job right.

And I'm getting a gift certificate from Seeker for the Hot Copy comic strips! I have no idea what to buy in Neutral Grounds with it tho. Jonas said he'll buy an Aragorn figurine.

HE may find the doll sexy enough for him, but I'm not that satisfied with the Legolas figurine myself. He's not... cute enough :9 And even if he is, what the heck am I gonna do with it??

Anyway, if you haven't bought Seeker Magazine, better by one now ;) Issue 2 of Hot Copy has already come out at Seeker #3. Available in Neutral Grounds anywhere!

MAKE YOUR OWN PIXEL AVATAR!

A friend told me about this PORTRAIT ILLUSTRATION MAKER he found in Nikki's blog. Go try your own! I'd recommend a FAST connection though. It may take a thousand times of loading before you could finish creating one.

ICE CREAM UPDATE: Tried Cappucino Ice Cream for breakfast ;) Don't worry Mamy, I'll eat more later.

Oh, and speaking of Mamy, for the benefit of all Mamy's fanboys (say "MILF" and DIE!), I'll,post her pic here when I find a good one ;)

Subject: BOYLET

Vocabulary:
boy - n. a male child from birth to puberty
-let - n suffix small one

"Ano ba ibig sabihin ng boylet?"

Tanong yan sa akin ng isang boylet. Pero ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng 'boylet'? Ewan ko ba, pero napulot ko yan sa mga bading kong kaibigan. "Ate, yummy ang boylet mo." "Bakla, saan ba may boylet dito?"

Ang boylet, kailangang bata, or at least, ka-age mo. As in tanders. Tanders from matanda -- matanders -- tanders -- tander-cat (origin - thundercat).

Tsk, tatlong letra lang yan, pero it makes a world of difference.
pagiging isang boyfriend o lover at isang kaibigan.

So, anong tawag natin sa kanila?
Closet-boylets?

Sabi ng isang kaibigan na nagkaroon na ng relasyon mula sa both ends of the continuum -- from the youngest of boylets to super tander-cats, ang boylet, fling lang daw. But it is not necessarily true na promotion sa boylet ang pagiging boyfriend.
Halimbawa, kung itatanong sa iyo ng jowa mo, "Do you love me?"
So, pwede bang "yes-let" ang isagot?

Ang isa pang tanong, gaano ka-boylet ang kaya mo, kung baga sa low-waist pants, how low can you go? 3 years? 4, 5, 6?
I-career!

Yung iba naman, just so they'll feel alive again daw, to feel young, fresh and to get their groove back.

Go forth and multiply!

NEW AVATAR!

Heehee! To commemorate my getting the job here in CSB :D

MCO asked me to design a logo for our office based on their students' designs. I chose the most popular one, namely Peewee's (also our MCO web guy) and this is what got approved :) I'm pretty happy they liked it.

MY DORM
If you're VERY familiar with the CSB area, you'd guess where I live now ;)

It's pretty cool. I'm sharing the room with 4 other girls. Two of them UP students, a St. Scho, and another studying music, majoring in the clarinet. In short I'm the 'Ate' again ;)

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL... er, WORK
(Sorry, watched Finding Nemo for the hundredth time)

Yay! It's my first day here in CSB! I am tasked to submit a poster design by Wednesday, and it's cool how they're letting me feel my way around muna today. I got to borrow materials like newsletters and catalogs and primers to learn all about CSB. I'm wondering if I could study here too heheheh! Maybe Flash and html... but of course, work first ;) I am definitely using my time here in Manila to learn. I'll just figure out basing on my work schedule what I can study.

I was given a tour around the campus and I'm impressed at how they manage to get everything(classrooms, admins, offices) in such a small space. But that's just me being a UST grad ;) And their canteen is droolworthy! ;D I can't wait to eat all the flavors of the ice cream there ONE BY ONE! Just like I did when Dairy Queen opened near UST back in college. I managed to try all the flavors by the time schoolyear ended ;9

New art uploaded! In watercolor! I haven't painted manually in watercolor since freshman college! Ack! Check it out HERE!

And here's the caricature I sold on last Sunday's Toycon!

Check it out here!

And here are pics Edgar Tadeo sent me from the same event!

here's me working the booth with Jerald (who got mistaken for Gerry Alanguilan!)

And with newest member Lyra aka Betty Page Komikera (hehehe!)

Hoy Adel! Kala ko ba do-drowing mo ako?? ;9

Guys,

Good news! College of Saint Benilde called me yesterday saying I'm hired as their Senior Graphic Artist! YAY! I'm meeting them today this 2pm and I'm supposed to bring my SSS#, TIN#, transcript, ID pic and resume!

This morning Mei-Tak liked my "Stacked Frogs" watercolor (my last ditch effort which I did in less than an hour because they kept turning down my digitally colored 'anime/comics-styled' drawings) so much they want to hire me for China!

Uh-oh... and the new York guys just sent me email to tell me that I'm now part of their office as their probationary freelance part-time artist. They told when I thought that they might not take me "You shouldn't be worried because you're a VERY shortlisted candidate. We like your illustrations and personality."

A month ago I'd kill for a problem like this. Having multiple job offers with possible salaries of twice my last salary working as an artist.

I should have been more careful what to wish for.

I really have no idea what to do with Engot. And I'm saddened that he just went to worse when we gave him all his chances to get better.

But who knows? Maybe Johnny's right. Maybe it really is all my fault. Maybe if I went off to China(finally???) he'll stop and act like when he first joined the group again.

Argh!

Work in China?

I've been trying to get a job in China because the pay is good, the experience would be great, and I want to learn my father's language more.

Today I am one of the applicants considered for their designer position. If I get the job I have to be there in China before the 26th of this month.

Which means I may not be able to go to Toy Con anymore. Maybe.

In reply to Blitzkerieg's question:

"We are now organizing the "3rd Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention 2004". This will be held at the SM Megatrade Hall 3 on June 27, 2004 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This event now encompasses not just the collectors market but the hobby market as well, including RPG games, airsoft and combat gaming, online gaming, Techdech, etc.

This single day event is expected to bring in 40 of the country's top collectible exhibitors including licensees in eminent toy brands and prominent hobby merchants. We are anticipating a crowd of at least 5000 people in this mega-event.

hope we see you there!

-TOYCON PH"

This is from Azrael's email. I'll be going there to sell my indies "Jac Strips For YOU!!!" so I hope you go there and buy them if you haven't already :) I am also selling 'quick comic caricatures' (try saying that fast!) like these:

James and his Bond Girls
PHP Slytherin Quidditch Team

All you gotta do is drop off pics of the people you want me to draw (you, your friend, etc) and maybe ref pics of costumes/themes you want me to use, along with the payment. The first was a James Bond theme, and the second gave me ref pics of the Slytherin Quidditch uniform. After you throughly enjoyed touring the whole of TOYCON you come back to my booth and pick it up :)

So I hope you got pics ready when we see each other at the TOYCON! :D

Adel, I'm wearing the pink skirt then so you can draw me uli! Wheeeee!

QUICK CARICATURES

Whenever I sell my caricatures in events, it goes like this:

1) When someone wants me to draw a caricature, the person gives me a picture of the one I'm drawing

2) They tell me the theme they want.

3) They pay me P150 for every person to be drawn

4) Then they go on to enjoy the convention.

5) When they're ready to leave they come back to me and claim the finished drawing :)

For example, if a photo looks like this and they wished to wear that Bruce Lee suit like in Kill Bill:

The drawing could look like this:

Now I hope Gerry won't kill me for this, because actually, I did this drawing as my surprise birthday gift to him. I had this idea of drawing him as a spoof for Kill Bill because the 'villain' in Wasted was named Bill and he mentioned that he that he thought that Bruce Lee suit looked cool so... ;)

Knife-Wielding Maniacs

I was on my way home in a jeep one day when a big, dark and fat guy got on, facing the driver, while I was sitting at the end nearest the passenger exit at the back. I was a bit puzzled at his ragged and stained clothing, but dismissed it thinking he's a butcher or something.

My presumptions were proved wrong when he started talking to nobody in particular, sometimes even cursing to people who hasn't been talking with them. I still gave it no mind thinking he could be harmless.

As I faced his back, he hitched up and scratched his back, exposing a long kitchen knife tucked at the belt of his denim shorts, then pulled his shirt back down over the knife. I realized the stains on his shirt looked more like bloodstains, and they were right over where the knife was hidden.

That's when I turned at the girl seated across me, who was the only other person to see the knife, since everyone else in the jeep was seated between the crazy and the driver. The jeep was only half full, so everyone could afford to sit facing the driver.

I reacted to to the girl's alarmed look on her face by jokingly pretending to jump off the jeep. She smiled, somewhat relieved of some of the tension at the moment. I then texted my friend about the knife wielding crazy in a blood-stained shirt, who in turn quickly replied telling me to get off the jeep. Now. I guess they're afraid the crazy guy would suddenly decide to re-enact a Wasted scene.

I was not that keen on getting off the jeep. Call me silly, but it's because I already paid for my fare and I wanted to get my fare's worth. And also because I'm worried about the other passengers, which included a mother and her toddler son.

I was resolving to get off the jeep only when I'm sure everyone else has gotten off before me and are all safe when my friend called, ordering me to get off the jeep. I tried to protest but they wouldn't hear of it. When the girl across from me saw me call the driver to stop, she quickly moved to get off the jeep herself.

Still worried, I called out to the mother with her toddler to get off the jeep too. The mother just gave me a puzzled look. As we caught another jeep, I voiced my concern for the last 2 passengers with the crazy to the girl who got off the jeep with me. She said she's sure the two would get off themselves soon.

The girl recounted the story to the passengers of the new jeep why we got off practically in the middle of nowhere and transferred to another jeep, telling them about the crazy and his bright orange-handled knife hidden by his bloodstained shirt. I got home uneventfully after that.

Actually, this reminded me of a similar incident...

I was still in college then, and I was also on my way home, only I was riding a bus to San Pablo. The bus broke down so we had to transfer. The conductors was settling payments and figuring out who already paid and who did not when the tow truck came and started hitching up the bus to tow.

The passengers must have been scared getting dragged with the bus by the tow truck or something because they all got off the bus before the conductor was done settling accounts and tickets. Of course he got pissed and told the tow truck guys to at least wait until the passengers have transferred, shouting about the guys being so money hungry that they can't wait to get paid for towing.

I was actually pretty oblivious the whole time, minding my own business and sitting on my pretty little @$$ waiting for the next bus to tansfer to. Until I heard the lady beside me screaming about somebody getting a knife and she's scared for her baby and all. That's when I looked up and almost hit my nose against a bolo knife(itak).

Turned out the shouting match has escalated to something far worse that the tow guys ran to their truck to get their own bolos out so the conductor took out his own(I didn't know until then that most motorists such as they have big-@$$ knives hidden in their vehicles).

I found myself shocked and talking rapidly to the conductor to put his knife away, "MANONG! Itabi n'yo po 'yung itak!"("SIR! Please put the knife away!")

The conductor had fear in his eyes, unsure of what to do, "Aatake na sila e!"("But they're attacking!"). When I looked out of the bus windshield ahead, I saw one of the tow guys angrily running back to the bus, carrying his own itak. the mother beside me screamed and her infant daughter cried.

I turned to the driver and shouted, "Isara n'yo yung pinto!"("Close the doors!")

Man, it was like a freakin' movie. The door sealed shut the exact moment the towguy reached us and brought his itak down, the blade glancing off the metal doors. As the we, people trapped inside the bus(me, the conductor, the driver, the lady and her baby) watched the towguy banging against the door in futility, I quietly asked the conductor to put away his knife, which he was still clutching.

He slowly moved his hand to put it back in its hiding place, while I talked to him in a soft voice the whole time, telling him that they shouldn't get carried away and let such small things lead to too heavy consequences. He was concerned about the towguy still lashing out at the door. I told him his anger will pass when he tires out and regains his senses.

I stood before the door and faced the guy lashing out on the other side. I guess he got embarassed or something because he finally stopped a few moments later, and put his knife down. Barring the entrance I asked the driver to open the doors. Then softly asked the towguy, "Ok na po kayo?"("You ok now, sir?").

He sheepishly bowed his head as I gently joked, "Kayo talaga, tinakot n'yo po kami e!"("You silly, you scared us!") and we laughed as I told him not to do it again. I then told him that they can hitch up the bus after our busguys would see us transferred to another bus.

The towguy was saying the conductor started it calling him names. I said he was just grumpy because his bus broke down(wouldn't you?). I then pointed out to the towguy that the baby was smiling at him(OOOH! Lookie! The baby was smiling at you! Wheeeeee!).

By the time another bus came along for us to transfer to, the towguy was playing and making 'kootchi-koo' noises waving bye-bye to the baby :)

Of course, when I reached home and told the fam about it they all said I was crazy to put myself in danger like that and told me not to do it ever again ;D

NEW ART UPLOADED IN MY DEVIANT ART!

Check it out here! Wheeeee!

FREE FRONT ROW TICKETS TO LINKIN PARK METEORA CONCERT!

Yes! I submitted this art to Jag Jeans, the sponsor of this event, because Azrael said I might win free tickets. I made that art because I really wanted to draw something for the month of June, so I never expected to win in the contest.

But June 14, Monday, I got text messages telling me that I've won 2 gold(front row) tickets for the Linkin Park concert! I quickly ran from third floor to the ground floor of our house to tell Bebe the good news. She texted my mom and my sister Wanwan who were equally ecstatic.

By next morning I am told that it's been decided that its Wanwan who I'm gonna take to the concert with me because she's the biggest fan of Linkin Park in our family. And she was quoted thus: "I'm going to that concert no matter what!!!"

So I went to Makati got my tickets and went to work. I hoped Wan could meet me in Glorietta but she doesn't know how so I had to pick her up in Ortigas. I taught her how to get to Glorietta by MRT, then took a taxi from there.

The taxi dropped us off at the right spot and we found our way to the Gold Ticket gate and got in. We then weaved our way through the crowd to get as close to the stage as possible. Wan used her Samsung phone to take pictures while I just screamed along the singing the songs and had fun.

Late Wan said we were crwoded in there literally rubbing elbows with the newest batch of Star Circle. She said they've been giving us looks as if they're wondering why we didn't recognize them. She wanted to take Hero's picture but was too shy.

In my case I really had no idea who they were and I'm not really into local showbiz. All I know was that I lost my balance, stepped on a girl's sandalled foot, who in turn yelled "Ouch! FUUUUUUUU@K!" So I just told Wan "Cool, I stomped on a Star Circle kid!" Seriously though, my apologies to her toe. Heheh!

After the concert(which I still believe is too short to be worth the money the free tickets were worth) we walked along texting others we could meet. I got to contact Ariel Atienza and Azrael and we met up for pictures. The went off to find someplace to sleep.

I thought of trying out Victoria Court because I heard it's affordable and it's okay enough. We laughed our heads off teasing each other about the possible greetings we might be welcomed with by the receptionist of the motel:

"Madam! Welcome back! Would you like the room from last time? Oh! So you're into women now! What? You're sisters?? KINKIER!"

But of course we just received the usual greetings and are led to this room with a 'music theme'. Wan asked about me letting her have a smoke.

"Can I smoke?"
"Not inside the room."
"What???"
"It's freakin' airconditioned!"
"You gonna make me smoke outside?? In this strange place?"
"Fine, don't smoke at all."
"Oh alright, not in the room then!"

In the morning I dropped her off in Ortigas and withdrew money for her allowance. She plans to pay it back when she gets money. I go on home after I get my camera and othe stuff I left in the office to make more space in my bag for Wan's things.

Wanna reach me

Elle Driver (California Mountain Snake)

You're Elle Driver! Sly and evil, you can manipulate people in order to get whatever you want. You're usually alone, but that's the way you like it. You hate having others nearby to order you around (unless it's Bill, of course... but even then you're still hesitant).

LAB RESULTS

Wheeeeeeee! I finally got my lab results! Sheesh, Hospital bills totalled to P2,800! Ouch on my budget! I mean, for just a few hours??? Anyway, thye lab results showed most of the numbers within the normal range except for these:

(Blood Count)
Total WBC (Normal=4-10 x 10 9/L) = 19.9 x 10 9/L
(Differental Count)
Lymphocyte (0.20 - 0.40) = 0.04
Segmenters (0.50 - 0.70) = 0.94

Times like these I wish I still know someone from Med Tech to explain this to me :)

I'm Mulan!

Which Disney Princess are you?

I dream to someday work for Disney... as an artist, though. I'm afraid they'd give me a job instead where I have to walk around dressed up as Mulan, hahahah! ;D

Saturday: HOSPITAL

Ack! For the first time in my life I got confined in a hospital! Awwwww and I was so proud of never having been to the hospital! Sheesh, there goes my 'clean record' ;)

Anyway I got home from a night swimming with the Young Pro group of my church (UECP) last Saturday morning, having only one hour's sleep. Since it was 7am, I thought I still have a free internet hour left! Wheeeee! (Net Addict :p) So I got online.

Less then an hour later my nephew Mikko woke up and climbed into my lap. At around that time my younger sister Wanwan also came along and asked if she could Net. Since I'm almost done with checking my email and stuff I agreed and decided to set Mikko down because I was feeling dizzy.

That's when I unglamorously threw up the spaghetti I ate about 4am :p That's when I got worried about my church friend Cindy who ate more than I did at that time. I planned to text her to see if she's okay but by then I couldn't stop. I thought I'd feel better as soon as I got it all out. But later all that was going out was bile, and it hurt a lot.

I asked Elsie to give Mikko his milk because I realized I can't do it myself. Mikko refused to get his milk from somebody else though and tried pulling me off the kitchen sink and brought me as far away as possible. I was limping because my right leg stiffened up and I felt cramps forming below the knee. But I still needed to run back to the sink :(

By then Wanwan found me because she wanted to ask about Photoshop. She poured me a glass of water because she said it would help. Then she played with Mikko to distract him. Elsie also made me a cup of coffee. The glass of water worked I think, it hurt somewhat less since I'm getting out not just bile that time, so Wanwan poured me another glass. I barely got to drink that though :(

It was starting to get freaky when I couldn't feel my legs that I laid down on the kitchen floor. That's where out labandera Elsie found me. By then I couldn't feel my arms either, and it's getting harder and harder to breathe. Like the air passageway's continuously growing narrower as I lose feeling of my body from the neck down.

I couldn't open my eyes but I soon heard Wanwan say "Hey, get up! You're scaring Elsie!" I could hear in her voice that she's trying to lighten up the situation, partly also for herself. My body's rejecting bile again, and I could only say "hospital", because we were the only ones home that time. Wanwan tried calling Mamy and my older sister Beya.

She also tried calling several hospitals but she got NO answer from any of them! She finally dialled the SECOND FLOOR of Community Hospital where they tried to transfer the call to ER, but of course, NO answer! Eventually Wanwan had a tricycle called, and its driver carried me off the floor and into the transpo to bring me to Community, by then it reached ER so they brought me straight there.

My right calf was cramping up big time that I kept thrashing, kicking Wanwan's wallet off my ER bed(oops!), then her Samsung camera phone (GAH!)! Wanwan wiped me as my body is still rejecting. The people in the ER kept asking if I'm gonna be confined, doing NOTHING to me. Wanwan couldn't answer, or maybe I just couldn't see her answer because I still couldn't open my eyes.

Later on they said the only remaining room was the P2,500 Suite(!), of course, that's when I spoke up despite my feeling like hell! "No! Ward!" I mean geez! They weren't doing anything until they know where I'm gonna be confined! Guess what? Turned out there was a P400 5-person ward with only 2 occupants!

"Suite is the only vacancy," my @$$!

And only after then do they put an IV on me ("OW! That freakin' hurts!") and inject meds through the IV that made me stop retching. Mamy came along saying she bought meds for me too. I started feeling better enough to stop thrashing in bed. I felt little needles pricking my finger. Blood typing I think. I was ready to say "B! B! Quit poking me! My blood type's freakin' B!"

I felt them wheel me (I can only guess so much through closed eyes) to the ward then. I was about to open my eyes when I felt more needles poking me. Ack! Ooookay, I'm keeping 'em closed for a bit more! Oh no, they're getting my blood sample in a vacuole! Stupid phobia! Don't look! Don't look! Gawd I hate blood and blades and needles :p

I guess I drifted off to sleep after. I woke up finding Mamy beside me. She asked how I was feeling. I said I feel better. Wanwan said the color's back in my face and limbs. The other occupant in the ward was making chitchat with my fam. Doc came and checked me up. So far I looked fine, except my leg still hurt a little, recovering from the cramps.

I finally got to text Cindy to ask how she is. She said she's perfectly OK. I guess it's because she didn't swim at all. Or she had more sleep. I really dunno :p Anyway I'm just glad nobody else is affected :) Turns out Randell texted and Mamy replied to him saying I'm in the hospital. Beya told Derrick too. I didn't want to tell him because I didn't want to spoil his birthday or anything. His birthday's May 1.

I told the doc I wanted to go home since I feel OK. He said "But you've been here barely two hours!" He wanted to check first if I won't have relapses and insist I eat lugaw and nothing fatty for now. Mamy said she'll go home to cook lugaw.

"So Ting, how's an IV stuck on your arm feel?" asked Wanwan. Heheheh! Later Beya arrived with mamy's lugaw and I ate. Here's Beya's POV, as said to dad in an email:

"Me and Wan stayed with Ting at the Female Ward Room from lunchtime, so mamy can rest at home na lang. We basically just talked and talked and talked there, while waiting for ting's release orders. Buti na lang din we stayed long enough para ting was able to eat the hospital food there (besides the "new experience", we wouldnt have to worry about what "soft" foods we'd cook for ting to eat) There was lugaw, soup, steamed tilapia and extra plain rice with 2 macapuno sticks. Wan and i shared a macapuno stick to "test" if it's ok enough for ting's stomach. Heheh. ;) Finally, at around 5:15pm, ting was released by the doctor(mahal doctor's fee, P400!) so I went to pay at the Pharmacy na lang (they accept payments after the cashier closes at 4pm) We got home at around 5:30pm yesterday from Community Hospital. We paid around P2,690.00+ for the whole day.

By the way, ting didnt really get food poisoning naman, since the girl who ate spaghetti with her on the swimming party didnt get tummy aches. It seems parang "nalamigan" lang ang tiyan because she didnt get to change her clothes kaagad pagka-swim. :( Eh she has her period pa naman, kaya mas susceptible to pasma yata or lamig iye tummy. She didnt intend to go to the hospital pa nga sana, if she didnt feel the "pangingimi" in her legs creeping up towards her neck na. That's why she made pasama to wan to the hospital na. Community wanted to put her into the suite(P2.5K a day!), but ting insisted she'll be fine in the ward na lang (still thinking practical kahit namimilipit na sa sakit ;) )eh, it turns out meron pa namang available bed in the ward naman pala. Hay naku, hospitals talaga! ;(

You shouldnt worry about us though, we're taking care of each other naman here. :) Actually, the 3 of us were just chit-chatting away the time (esp.when there was only 1 other patient there with ting and she's on the OTHER side of the room kaya ok lang maingay, and we even befriended the taga bantays, since they were all "natutuwa" by how close we sisters are, and parang our kapatid lang daw mamy. They saw her earlier kasi, while she was waiting for wan to replace her at ting's bedside.:) ) When we were laughing because wan had to rush and get bottle for ting's 'samples', they were laughing with us too. :) Wan even got "souvenir shots" from the hospital experience(using her fone), we'll forward it to you when she sends it in the internet na. ;)"

I'll see if I can post the pics here. It featured 'Gandalf the Pink', which I was dubbed when I had to walk around in my pink t-shirt with the silly IV 'staff';D

Sunday: REST

Ahh! I planned this day to start drawing the 2-pager to try out for Mango Comics (female anime/manga style comicbook artists! Click away!) but they insist I rest. Aww, it means I miss church and Raipo's grad party :( So I spent the day watching Mtv and these are some songs/videos I'd like to check out later:

Run by Kitchie Nadal
Don't Tell Me by Avril Lavigne
This Love by Maroon Five
I'm Really Hot by Missy Elliot
She Wants To Move by N.E.R.D

And this celebrity(?) VJ Jamelia was wearing a cute black sleeveless shirt saying "BOYS NEED US GIRLS" hahahahaha! ;D

Monday: WHEEE!

By now I'm done reading the hardbound compilation of children's story excerpts (including Charlotte?s Web) called "Rhymes and Reasons" we bought in booksale. I plan to get back on track and go to Sir Mandy's place today at 2pm to meet with his kids Andrew and Meggy for more "Ate Jac Draws With You" sessions. Fun! Hmm, gotta get lab results too.

Friday, April 30, 2004

Sir Mandy originally wanted Gerry to teach his kids how to draw. But he's too busy so he volunteered me instead :)

Sound Booth

I'm supposed to build something like this. So far I guessed at some of the materials. Right now I'm at a point where I'm figuring out how to put the walls together to make it sound-sealed but at the same time easily disassembled :) My thanks to all those who texted back and tried to help me with my questions! ;D

nyehehehe! Wala lang. I saw this pic in the Filipino Freelancers website. Na-cute-an ako.

SO THERE! ;9

as for that anito fan art, i still have to draw the background and the villains surrounding them, rebels perhaps, but I think I'll enjoy drawing maranhigs more ;) And I'm still waiting for some friends in Anino Entertainment to send me their Tinio design because I still want to draw Tinio putting tattoos on Maya (ooooh!;). I hope it isn't too much trouble for them.

Woohoo! I got to visit Digitraxx! A most impressive sound recording booth located in Makati. Its owner Rico is very helpful, and offered to get the contractor's number for me so I could contact him and learn more about how to make and use diffusers and such.

And this time, I did NOT forget to buy Trakk #2. So wala na akong atraso kay Mico hehehe! Now, to stalk him until he autographs my copy! ;D I also bought the latest issue of Culture Crash, where I'm happy to find my name and indie mentioned along with Ariel Atienza as caricature artists of last sci fi con :)

As for Gabriela history, I guess I'll have to research on good ol' Google :p

Working on a strip called Riot Grrlz, layouting and coloring stage of Strip 4, panel 1, to be exact. The reason I got online now is to learn how to make wood grain in photoshop hehe! I hope to finish all 6 strips soon :) at least I got the revised scripts approved :)

I also have to work on 6 strips of Sandbox, same format as Riot Grrlz.

Dad finished building my light table! Wow! He's really fast :) I'm lucky to have a cool dad who loves woodworking. I'm hoping to have it placed in the third floor of our house, where I decided to have my workstation, because the PC is close to our bedroom(so we can Net for free on the off hours ;).

i'm rushing to finish a fanart of Agila and Maya! Ack! Hope I finish them on time! So far I've finished Agila, but I wanted to draw Maya as Cathy cosplayed her :)

I also need office plans to build a small voice recording booth in it ;)

I also need to remember to buy Trakk 2, preferably with a Philip Tan cover, because it's drawn by Mico Suayan! Wheeeeeeee! Congrats pare! Habol na lang ako nyeheheh! And also drop off my indies for consignment, because people wanted to buy again. Wheee!

I also hope to meet up with Jawbreaker girl Claire Villacorta to get some Gabriela history/materials for a pin-up I'll be doing for Siglo 2 :)

Then in Tandang Sora I hope to wall climb again and also check out a sound booth that uses foam instead of gypsum board, called Sound Creations, owned by a Japanese guy named Shinji. I hope I can find it :p

Monday, April 12, 2004

wheeeeeeeee! beho and I are going to UPLB today because I'm researching about soundbooths. Afreelance gig involved building a small one to record voices without the noises, and he said the one in the devcom building (DZLB station) is the best :)
