White Cross Orphanage

Karen Kunawicz asked me to be their facepainter for Cristina Peczon's birthday party at the White Cross Orphanage. Here's the birthday girl's message below, because we hope you and your friends could come too!

hi everyone!

everything's set for August 19, 3 - 5:30 pm at the white cross orphanage in san juan! ( here's the map for those unfamiliar with the area)

please, no gifts for the celebrant, your presence and well wishes are more than all i wish for :)

instead, you are encouraged to bring a gift for a child, so that it feels like the birthday party is THEIR party.

( but, i do need a favor -- does anyone have a microphone we can borrow for the party? white cross doesnt have one and talking before 80 orphans and guests will be very difficult without a microphone...

this is how it will work : one or two children ( depending on # of volunteers) will be assigned to each guest/chaperone. you will be their kuya/ate for the afternoon, helping them with the games and activities. dinner for the children will be served, courtesy of Jollibee. and at the end, we'll have a little gift giving for the orphans -- where you will give your child his/her own little gift.

if you are unable to get a gift for your ward for the day, don't worry, i've prepared extra. but if you can email me or text me that you won't have a gift i'd appreciate it so i can make sure i have enough.

the gift can be anything -- books/coloring books, toys, food, clothes, even slippers & shoes ( these kids don't have proper shoes to go to school in!) these children are orphans remember, so just about anything is a blessing to them! last year my cousins donated the tricycles that their own kids outgrew and you should have seen the smiles on the faces of the orphans!!!

this year, we give these kids the gift of a fun filled afternoon and the warmth of friendship and love. i promise you it will be a couple of hours you will never forget.

see you there and please let me know if you have any questions? please come a little early - 15 mins or so -- to allow yourself time to become oriented with the place and get to know your little sister/brother for the day.

The Usual Blogger Stuff

On the top bar you'd see the blog title, description, and Profile. I'm using a default Blogger template right now until I find a blog template that has a white and gold color scheme. Because my BaZi reading said red is a bad color for me because it intensifies my personality, making me emotional, snappy and grumpy. And here I thought it was just dysmenorrhea.

Kidding aside, it gave me an excuse to overhaul my mostly-red look. White could be refreshing for me, and I never disliked the bling of gold ;)

As usual you'll see my posts there, I'm trying to update as much as I can, but my work is more on the drawing table and less on a computer, so I'm not online as much as I want. And please do leave comments on my posts! I promise to reply, and if you have a blog I'll comment there as well :D

She has also served as Visiting Scientist in Perinatology at the Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan, and is a sought-after speaker on fetal development, breastfeeding, and menopause, among other topics. Dr. Lim has received numerous awards for clinical research. Her work on the "Enhancement of Breastfeeding among hypertensive Mothers" garnered the Dr. Enrique Ostrea Jr Research Award on Perinatal Medicine and was published in the book "Increasing Safe and Successful Pregnancies", while her paper "Estimation of Birth Weight Using Fundic Height Measurement among Filipino Term Pregnant Patients at the CGHMC Charity Division" placed second at the First Year Residents' Paper Presentation at CGHMC. Dr. Lim is also a founding fellow of the Philippine Society of Maternal and Fetal medicine, has served as chair of the Manila Medical Society Committee on Family Planning in 1998 to 1999, and board director of the Philippine Medical Women's Association - Manila chapter in 2000 to 2002.

Isolation

I've been very depressed lately because I've been isolated for too long. I miss my friends. I've been so busy with work and life that I haven't had a chance to meet up with any of them.

Well, hopefully I would be able to see my friends again :) Mahirap na e. I hate being cut off, y'know ;)

A friend asked me the other day hows it feel na nakagawa ng laruan... and I said that the feeling was great... having your imagination actualized... (and knowing that those late nights and stressed out days were all worth it).
So for all you guys who wonder what the heck I've been doing for the past few years in this company... here you go... this is what I do... I think and design stuff like this. Designing not just how it looks outside, but planning on what it's supposed to do.

Web Comic Wars

Hello guys! This is a blog I opened up with Gem and Sean. You go there and read from the first post. It's like a webcomic which is started and continued by another, picking up where the last one left off. Anyone is welcome to join! Just give me the email address of your blogger account so we can invite you :)

Once you're a member, you can post your own webcomic, starting by introducing your own character which will become part of the story to interact with the characters created by the other Bloggers there.

The one rule that's most obvious is that once you post your chapter, you have to wait for someone else to post their own chapter before you can post again :) The members so far besides us three are Robert Wong, Jennyson Rosero, DarkHalf, and Greco M.
