SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks so much!

COMICS FEST WAS A BLAST!

Last Friday I reached home 9pm. I slept because I got tired lugging abig bag all the way from Makati :D

Last Saturday I got online and worked on Ning's Strip 12 revision and a new Strip 14 for Usapang K, the colored comic strips that are printed in Hong Kong (The Sun and Hong Kong times).

Last Sunday we went to the comics festival where mom is catering. Beya took Mikko to explore the awesome place while I face painted and did body art. A family of four even asked me to do a caricature for them! I was so lucky to have brought some papers by accident and got to borrow pencils and erasers from Carlo Pagulayan and Wilson Tortosa to draw the caricature. They were so happy they paid me P100 and asked for our business card where we offer catering (Mamy), Face Painting (Bebe) and Caricatures (me). My thanks to that family!

And thanks so much for buying my indies! I honestly thought no one would want to buy them because the print wasn't dark enough on the coored edition. That's why I sold them at a discounted price. I'm planning to print this Saturday at least 20 colored cover-edition in the clear mode with xmas greeting inserts to sell this sunday at C3Con! wheeeeeee!

And thanks Wilson for the xmas card and gift! The bracelet I'm wearing right now, the doremi cellphone accessory is now attached to my cellphone!the original g-force girl drawing! My bro loves it! I promised to give him the g-force comics you'll give me at the C3con :) he loves G-force kasi.

SEE YOU GUYS THERE!

and this is the last day of my first week of work :) I'm going home after I pick up whatever sales I managed from ComicQuest Megamall. My thanks to everyone who bought my very first indie. And I invite the rest to buy one too. Or more if you want to give them away from Christmas or something. Like my friends did. Cheryl Ching ordered 20 copies and asked me to insert a xmas card inside. Of course I gladly obliged :) so every colored cover of "Jac Strips For You!" come with a free mini xmas card! Wheeeeee!

So how was my first week of wiork as a web designer for EverSunSoft? It's great! The boss is in California and he directs us by chat. And he's cool! And I guess in a way I'm thankful I have to interact with him through chat because I usually feel intimidated talking to a boss face to face :) at least at first. And twice this week they had pizza hut delivering into our office! So I didn't have to buy lunch! Yesterday was the second time, ordering at 4pm. I took home the leftovers, because i noticed that last time they just throw it out with the trash. So I had 4 slices of family size pan pizza and a half-empty 500ml Pepsi for dinner :) i wonder if mamy's gonna kill me for this? I can see it now: "You call that dinner???"

When I do have to buy lunch there's these food wagons at the street where I can buy the usual carinderia fare at the usual carinderia prices. I stuffed myself silly with P12 red spaghetti one time ;p

So it's fun! Wheeeeeeee! I look forward to working for this company some more!

DECEMBER 1: First Day Work in Makati

I moved in the night before (Thanks Mico for carrying my huge bag all the way to the boarding house!). My roomie came in soon after. We watched her anime vcd's until 10pm and slept. She went off to work before 5am. I read her indies, mangas and Questors until it's time for me to get ready for work.

I got there at 9am to find the office locked. I went back down to the lobby after texting a co-worker that I'll wait for them there. After 2 hours I went back up and found them there. They said they never got my messages. Weird.

Anyway I quickly settled in my newly assembled PC. The free DSL quickly filled me with bliss ;D Was chatting with the boss soon enough to get my tasks for the day outlined for me. Which got me installing some programs into my PC. It wasn't that hard because my co-workers are nice and set-up my PC really well.

Soon enough I was sending work over the net to my boss in California where he comments and tells me where and which to tweak. Fun! When 6pm rolled around he let me go to continue the work tomorrow.

That's when I hurried to Greenbelt 3 to meet Deck and Mika at Kitchen. Deck called and asked if it's ok for him to order for me. I said yes, trusting he knows my taste, and got on a jeep to get there as fast as I could.

After getting lost a few times (Ryoga Syndrome) I finally reached the place. And saw the pasta Deck ordered for me.

Deck is SO dead.

He ordered me Black Pasta. Yep, the one with squid ink as main sauce. Ack! I should have known! It's so like him

After strangling the Black Pasta Pusher Mika and I had a lot of fun talking about what a small world it is, especially with Az all over the place. And comic strips. And drawing. And cosplay. And plenty of fun stuff, including ganging up against Deck. Payback time!

WEDNESDAY

wednesday is fiesta in Wawa/del remedio so beya took me and mikko to her friend there to eat (yummy! free eats! wheee!) and chat.

after that i went directly to our fastfood place (even if it's closed for the day) to meet with someone who's supposed to take me to watch Matrix Revolutions. Turns out he came earlier and found the place closed so he went to my house. Good thing my Achi told him i was waiting at the orig place. we eventually met there by bebe's text :)

unfortunately we found that the Matrix movie is already replaced by local movies. He decided to libre me toinstead. He even let me take the last 2 slices home. I bought net cards(so i can net and post here and stuff ;) and mikko's burger.

I got home and gave my kuya the pizza slices for arranging the ornaments in our christmas tree (after I set it up) before proceeding upstairs to give bebe their burger and her netcard.

THURSDAY

Thursday I finally got up the nerve to finish all three projects in one morning. but didn't have time to send them. deciding to send them now i went to tindahan to find mamy there. she told me to take her to megamallafter the rush hour.

after texting gerry that i can't make it (nuts, i didn't get to see jeffrey and carlo!) i ate lunch and went off with mom for her errands. we got home before 10 pm kanina.

we chatted a bit, wanwan gave us chocolates (yummy!). and I played Noxas a warrior this time instead of conjurer. Then mamy asked for some physical therapist session. by the time i'm done it's time for free net! wheeee!

TROWA! SABI KO NA NGA BA! SOULMATES TAYO! WAHEHEHEHE!

Yesterday I went to Makati to meet with a friend to look for a room-for-rent that we can share. I got hired to work in Makati. She also works in Makati and told me she's looking for a roommate. We had brunch in Mcdo discussing about the rooms we'll check out, the areas, and the ceiling price. We're both glad to agree on our ceiling price :) And off we went on a quest to look for a decent, safe, affordable room we could share!

We first went to Santillan and the first place we checked out (she has a few leads because she's been looking for a place for two months now. Wow! She's very efficient :) actually looks the most promising. If we don't find a better place before Nov 30 I'm putting my money down on that one :) I start work dec 1. Thanks for the congrats dady Az!

She and I talked a lot about our lives, families and other stuff and I've said "I'm getting creeped out" a few times because we have so many parallelisms, but I'm mostly amused at how I could relate to her. I really hope this roomie thing works out :)

After that we parted ways and I went on to my future office to meet the employees. The office is very new and very... 'spacious' (as derrick puts it). but the place is cool, and it has dsl! and Sir Danny (my contact) is the coolest! He's the one who hired me after interviewing me by chat and gave me tests I submitted online :)

i went to megamall after to meet with mom and wanwan. i had my works photocopied to be submitted to dady Az by having them picked up at Comic Quest (my thanks to Mike Simbulan and Raquel!). I also dropped off Tintin no da's vcd's and heavy metal so she can get them back na :) Az texted me later saying he picked them up na! Whee! So nice! Then my fam and I went home :)

"White Flag" by Dido (saw its video. amusing)

I know you think that I shouldn't still love you,
Or tell you that.
But if I didn't say it, well I'd still have felt it
where's the sense in that?

I promise I'm not trying to make your life harder
Or return to where we were

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

I know I left too much mess and
destruction to come back again
And I caused nothing but trouble
I understand if you can't talk to me again
And if you live by the rules of "it's over"
then I'm sure that that makes sense

Well I will go down with this ship
And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love and always will be

And when we meet
Which I'm sure we will
All that was there
Will be there still
I'll let it pass
And hold my tongue
And you will think
That I've moved on....

FACE PAINTING GIG A HUGE SUCCESS!

Wheeeeeeee! Everything went out great! We went to the kiddie party venue half an hour early and had kids and moms lined up before we could even set up!

I'm really glad we spent the night before practicing skin painting. I painted a unicorn on the birthday celebrant. A mom requested a rose 'tattoo' on her ankle, another wanted the seahorse she saw on my portfolio. Achi painted yinyangs on the boykids and flowers and butterflies on the girlkids. Wan listed down names of people who got the skin paint, their designs, and their artists.

Everyone is satisfied with our work. The kids were afraid at first, not knowing what to expect. But as soon as the first kids are done the other kids gathered all around us showering us with requests and pushing each other to be the first one painted. Most of the boykids requested me to paint Yu-Gi-oh stuff I copy from their cards. Why the heck is the Blue Ice Dragon so popular??? And I also copied a Dragon Master from another kid's card. I also got a lot of unicorn requests from the girls. And rainbows.

I spent the days since I was hired Tuesday stressing and panicking. Convinced that I never did it before and therefore could never do it. While Achi efficiently made a lot of research about face painting and we both formulated plans about what materials to buy/get and from where. We also made research on how much to charge and what rate. We even saved a lot of designs, and I started copying them onto a portfolio to show the clients. Manually. Because I'm still out of black and can't print them out and besides they're low-res.

We worked for 3 hours non-stop. Looking at Wan's list we found out we painted all the kids there and some adults, with kids having up to 4 paintings each. Yay! We're fast! I'm really glad to know we can pull it off. And the kids had so much fun. We laughed when we saw the kids who are too afraid are prodded by their parents to get themselves painted. As soon as we're done and handed them the mirror they're happy and wanted to show it to their friends :)

We were so grateful when we can eat while the guests enjoy the last event which was a magic show. When the party ended the host's assistant handed out their business cards to the guests. Seeing that I asked Achi for the business cards she printed which were meant to be for those who asked for it and gave out our cards to the ones who haven't asked for our card. It turns out they didn't notice we have cards and had different parents asking me for more cards.

We charged half-price because it's our first time. I was still kinda sad because the materials we bought are expensive, especially the Snazaroo that cost me P350 for basically 6 piso-sized paint pans that I had to travel all the way to Glorietta for before the big day. But our improvisations of our skin art kit saved us money against buying the full Snazaroo Kit for P10k! We even got to pay Wan for her assisting us :)

Woohoo! May bago na kaming raket! nyahahhahahahahah!

WOO-HOO! Remember when I had this gig to draw caricatures in the Toy Convention?

One of my customers is kind enough to post it online! wheeeee! I was so surprised when I accidentally found it by typing my name in Google :D thanks so much!

Check out the site here!
Ok, Saturday...

umm, I finally finished Nox (darn, that Hecubah is hard to kill!). And starting the play the other two stories. I also got a text from Ching who said she wants to buy 20 copies of my comics in color to give away to her friends for the holiday season as gifts. I offered to print colored covers in my printer and sell the books at PhP50 each.

I went out today and bought metallic paper to print my covers on and I am now working on churning out indies with colored copies, hopefully in time for the laguna Komikero meeting tomorrow at 2pm!

I'm still working on my G-force costume to cosplay at the coming c3con! So far I have the red/white striped pants, leather boots, and a red t-shirt. I'm still figuring out how to color the black and white parts of the shirt, and I still have to buy materials to make the transmute bracelet.
Okay... what did we do last Friday? Ummm, not much?

NOT! Beya saw on TV while my bro Allan was watching the local cable channel a feature about DIOKO RESORT AND BUTTERFLY FARM located right here in San Joaquin, San Pablo City! She got so excited she wants us all to check it out right away!

And as luck would have it, our driver Nonoy had nothing to do because he took the day off so he could get registered as a voter but the office denied him to prioritize newbies.

So soon enough we're on our way through rough roads(and I mean ROUGH! Not for cars with lowered engines!) expecting to see a butterfly farm but half-afraid we'd be disappointed to see a lousy resort with a few dead insects in frames.

Well, what the hey! The first thing we saw as we drove up inside are ostriches!

Friggin' OSTRICHES running around in their cages! They huge! and I gotta admit kinda scary. After we made sure the cages are secure we snapped pics. I'll upload the pics when they get developed :) the film's supposed to be for the butterflies but there we were snapping away at peacocks, snakes, deers, wild cats, kangaroos, eagles, falcon, monkeysand lots of other animals.

And that is only on our way to the frickin' buttefly farm. We found a few swimming pools. And we passed through a cute little garden to get to the entrance to the farm. When asked for tickets we asked Nonoy to run and get tickets for all six of us (Mamy, Beya, Allan, me, Wanwan, Nonoy and Mikko(he's free :p). A ticket costs PhP40 for grown-ups, PhP20 for kids.

after the cute garden we saw... dead insects in frames. But lo and behold! What's behind door number 2?! after pushing through plastic curtains we're in! Butterfly Farm! We're surrounded with flitting, floating butterflies! wan kept squaling and laughing because they tickle when they rest on our bare skin. wan's wearing a sleeveless and skirt so yes, she's the noisiest among us :)

We took our time taking in all the different kinds of butterflies and flowers. The variety isn't as big as any butterfly encyclopedia, but their sheer number is enough to make you want to stand still just long enough for one of them to rest on you. And in the middle is pretty fish pond full of colorful japanese carp.

we just followed the zigzag path inside the garden and soon we made our way out because they butterflies are starting to freak wanwan and allan out("geez! get offa me already!!!")... heheheh!

And when we got out we found a playground and took the liberty of making fools of ourselves by playing like kids(good thing the film ran out halfway through the butterfly farm). I nudged my way down slides, rode the swings til I rocked the poor foundations and see-sawed until it nearly broke under our extreme weight!

after that we walked around the resort and found more swimming pools. the place was nearly empty (duh! why else would we play in the playground?!) as we pester the employees there about cottage rates and stuff. entrance fee for the resort is PhP70 i think. a room with 3 beds and an aircon and a full bath is maybe PhP1200.

soon after we made our way home and stopped by Folcon's Bakery and coffee shop along Maharlika Hi-Way to buy pastries. And it's day well-spent :)

Yesterday was a wonder-FULL day for me!

I got to get out of the house (finally) NOT to go mind the store or run errands, but to actually go out to Manila for a job interview at Boni Avenue!

I got there and made to answer two essay-type questions which I finished early enough to meet with friends Cathy and Derrick(guy in photo below, yep: leftmost one) in glorietta!

We all met in Timezone at G4 and we stopped by Subway to get lunch while Cathy orders water because she already had a big breakfast :) after that she took us to Landmark to help me find clothes for my cosplay.

After that I went back to Boni to continue my tests for my job hunting. I answered non-verbal and verbal tests as well math and personality. I finished them all before the guy who came before me did.

After I submitted my test papers they called me back to decrease my answers for the personality test. When I did I saw that the previous tests have scores and they're pretty high, though I'm still a bit disappointed that there is a mistake or two, for I prefer having perfect scores.

After that I went back to Makati and had my resume photocopied because ePLDT wanted 3 copies of it when I show them my portfolio. The interview was fun and spontaneous.

We all joked around as I was interviewed by three pretty chinese girls and an artist guy and they even asked me to make a doodle for them, which I gamely did with chibi renditions of them. When the interview was over I thought it was too fast compared to the all-day I went through at Boni.

As I wondered if I said anything wrong at the interview at ePLDT (is it when they asked if I watch Meteor Graden?), I went on to meet Rolynelle's friend who's needing a background artist. He's kinda cute. But he already has a girlfriend hahaha!

Anyway the gig sounds exciting, but he may not be able to pay me as much as I'd need to be paid. I'll see if I can give the project a shot. As much as I'm interested, I'm already taking plenty of 'charity jobs' (gigs I do not do for the money, but because I know they need my help even if they can't afford it) as it is.

If I can't take this one in I'll recommend other artists and help in any other way I can :)

update: ePLDT called today! Their boss wants to talk to me tomorrow 11am! So it's not the Meteor Garden after all! Ahehehe, hope this works out... this one sounds good :D

Wow, then I'll go to my Lolo Pros' book launching of his 8th "Hardin ng Panalangin" book at Kingfisher in Rockwell at 6pm tomorrow! Wheeeeee!

I'm deciding between Warcraft3: Frozen Throne or Tomb Raider III.

Given a choice, I'd love to play Frozen Throne because I already played Reign of Chaos and enjoyed it immensely. Problem is the stupid game won't run. My PC hangs everytime it shows the menu.

So I'm sort of forced to play Tomb Raider 3. As much as I enjoy watching the hot Lara Croft running around, it could only entertain for so long. First-person games aren't exactly my favorite, besides the fact that a friend told me it's the hardest Tomb Raider game ever!

I'll try installing Warcraft3 again one last time. If it still doen't work I'm going back to Lara. I'm beginning to enjoy finding secret areas in her mansion ;)

here's another webcomic I follow. I found this through azrael.

"JAC STRIPS FOR YOU!" AVAILABLE NOW IN

I went to Ortigas last Thursday to meet someone. After that I went to Comic Quest to propose a consignment. When the ladies there told me I had to bring a letter first and have it approved before it can be decided whether I can sell my indies there I rushed off to look for a PC place where I can type and print out the dang letter.

Luckily I found Pacific Internet Cafe at the Cyberzone in Megamall. As soon as I had the letter printed I ran back down to basement where Comic Quest is. Thankfully the owner Mike Simbulan was there, for he is very easy to talk with. I gave him my letter and 10 copies and told him that it's ok to start selling as soon as his office approves. He told me I can call Monday to know how it turns out.

After that I looked for Comics Central Headquarters (CCHQ) along Katipunan, Diliman. My thanks to Sherry Baet, Joanah Tinio, Claire Villacorta and all my other friends who recommended the place to me. The ladies there are very supportive of indie comics. And they gave me no trouble at all. They just looked through a copy to make sure there's no mature content and agreed then & there to sell. Nice huh? :)

I looked through their Indie Shelf and picked out a P60 indie with a colored cover and another indie called Chop Suey by Claire and Paolo. I wanted to buy a lot of other indies but I didn't that much money at the moment. I'm very happy to see Carpool, Cresci Prophecies and Armor Troopers. After that I went home ;)
